Colliding Computer & Social Sciences

At June 29, The Network Institute hosted a succesfull mini-symposium “Colliding Computer & Social Sciences" to bring together researchers at the VU from both disciplines to discuss and spawn new collaborations and interactions.

Computing is fundamentally changing the social sciences. From large scale social networks to new ways of gathering interviews, computing provides new resources and challenges to social science methodology and practice. Conversely, social science provides new challenges and research questions to computer science in terms of requirements for complex algorithms and representations.
